- A gut support supplement containing seaweed
- A skin and coat product with marine algae
- A commercial food that already provides adequate iodine
None of these products are necessarily inappropriate on their own. But together, they may provide considerably more iodine than intended.
This is known as supplement stacking, when multiple products unknowingly supply the same nutrient.
It's one of the reasons we encourage pet parents to occasionally step back and look at their pet's entire wellness routine instead of evaluating each product individually.
Does That Mean You Should Avoid Kelp?
Not at all. Kelp isn't something to fear.
In fact, it can be an incredibly valuable ingredient when it's thoughtfully sourced, appropriately formulated, and used as part of a balanced nutritional plan.
